WASHINGTON, April 2 /U.S. Newswire/ -- U.S. Secretary of Energy Spencer Abraham issued the following statement today, upon the announcement by the White House of their appointment of David Garman, currently DOE's Assistant Secretary of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy, to serve as the acting Under Secretary of Energy.

"David Garman brings an outstanding public policy and government service track record to his current position as Assistant Secretary and now in serving as the acting Under Secretary. David spent twenty years in the U.S. Senate dealing with a variety of issues related to the Department and his broad understanding of our various programs makes him the logical choice to fill the job pending confirmation of a permanent nominee.
