News Advisory:

The first of the Baby Boomers will qualify for Social Security in two years and for Medicare in five years. Several commissions and many nonpartisan studies have looked at the long-term fiscal implications of the Boomers' retirement and agreed with the conclusion of the 1994-95 Bipartisan Commission on Entitlement and Tax Reform (Kerrey-Danforth) that "the present trend is not sustainable." In his State of the Union Address, the President asked Congress to work with him in creating a new commission to examine these issues. If a commission were established:
