WASHINGTON, Dec. 21 /U.S. Newswire/ -- The Pure Salmon Campaign, an international coalition of groups seeking to improve the way salmon is produced, announced today that it will file a truth-in- advertising complaint with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) regarding a recent advertising campaign touting farmed salmon as "just what the doctor ordered" for pregnant women.

Salmon of the Americas, a salmon aquaculture industry trade group, placed a six page advertising supplement in the Nov. 27 edition of The New York Times Sunday Magazine. The ad made extensive claims about the health benefits of farmed salmon and promoted the consumption of the fish to pregnant women and mothers.
