Southwest Airlines 4th Quarter Profits Soar While Flight Attendants Contract Talks Remain Grounded

DALLAS, Jan. 22 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Despite posting 57 percent profit for the 4th quarter today, contract negotiations between Southwest Airlines flight attendants and management still remain stalled. The flight attendants have been working without a new contract for 20 months, which is longest time in Southwest Airline's 32-year history that an employee group has worked without a contract.

Last September, after more than 16 months of negotiations, Southwest Airline's management declared that contract talks with Transport Workers Local 556 were at an "impasse" and requested assistance from the National Mediation Board.
