WASHINGTON, Sept. 21 /U.S. Newswire/ -- The Annapolis Center for Science-Based Public Policy is pleased to announce that Doctor Stephen Barnett Lewis has joined The Center's Board of Directors. Lewis is a diabetologist in the private practice of medicine. He also serves on the staff of John Muir Hospitals, Concord and Walnut California Centers.
Lewis served as a captain in the U.S. Navy from 1972 until his retirement in January 1993. As the Navy Science Assistance Program Manager, Lewis was in charge of solving fleet operational and medical requirements where small projects can be quickly focused to solve problems such as ice vests for fire fighters; cooling and hyperhydration for chemical defense suit wearers; special hearing protectors for using a stethoscope in noisy environments. As a member of the Defense Medical Standardization Board, he organized and unified D-day lists for the rapidly deployable fleet hospitals and hospital ships for emergency and wartime contingencies. Since 1993, Lewis has been in private practice specializing in diabetes, lipid hypertension, pregnancy and managed care.See the full content of this document
