WASHINGTON, May 24 /U.S. Newswire/ -- The parent Danish biopharmaceutical company Bavarian Nordic has announced formation of a new U.S. company that will open an office in Washington, D.C. "to insure efficient service to U.S. government authorities and to develop the market for Bavarian Nordic's vaccines in the United States," the company said today in an announcement from its headquarters in Kvistgard, Denmark.
Bavarian Nordic (http://www.bavarian-nordic.com) has submitted a proposal in response to a solicitation from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to supply a new vaccine to protect against smallpox. HHS is expected to announce its award decision later this year. The new Washington office is expected to play a central role in the registration of the vaccine, called IMVAMUNE(r), with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). In addition to its smallpox vaccine, Bavarian Nordic also is developing HIV and cancer vaccines.See the full content of this document
