Buffalo, N.Y., Senators Get Aarp Rx 'Message in a Bottle'

Summary

BUFFALO, N.Y., Aug. 17 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Western New York senators received a strong "message in a bottle" from AARP today on the need for drug affordability laws. The association brought its Rx Affordability Campaign to the region, delivering hundreds of Rx pill bottles to Sens. Marc Coppola, Mary Lou Rath and Dale Volker, filled with notes from constituents urging the Senate to pass AARP- backed legislation when they return to Albany in September. The senators were the first in the region to receive the pill bottles in their district offices.

"High drug costs have created a wall between people and the drugs they need to stay healthy. Our efforts today are aimed at getting the State Senate to help tear that wall down," said Len Sikora, an AARP volunteer from Elma. "We hope the State Senate gets our 'message in a bottle' and brings New Yorkers closer to the drug affordability laws they need and deserve."
