Profile America Saturday, August 13th. One of the joys of summer is being celebrated at South Haven, Michigan, this weekend at the 42nd National Blueberry Festival. Some 50-thousand people are expected at the annual event, where they will enjoy a sand- sculpting contest, beach volleyball and top entertainment in addition to a wide variety of goodies made from blueberries, including pie and ice cream. Not only do blueberries taste good, but they are said to have wide-ranging benefits, including eye health and lowering cholesterol. Some 200-million pounds of blueberries are harvested annually in the U.S. While many are eaten fresh, most are among the nearly five pounds of frozen fruit we each consume a year.
