Summary

FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 13: VALENTINE'S DAY COMING

Profile America -- Friday, February 13th. Even though it's unofficial, one of the nation's best-observed holidays comes up tomorrow -- Valentine's Day. And if you haven't thought about getting your loved one something to mark the day, you'll find stores featuring greeting cards, jewelry and candy, busy with other last- minute shoppers. Florists will be especially busy. The nation's 24,000 flower shops will be working overtime to help those who let the calendar sneak up on them. Each year, the U.S. produces more than 420-million dollars worth of cut flowers, two- thirds of them coming from California. We also import some 260- million dollars of cut flowers from Columbia each year. Roses generate the highest sales of any type of cut flower. You can find these and more facts about America from the U.S. Census Bureau on the Web at http:// www.census.gov.
