RICHMOND, Va., May 26 /U.S. Newswire/ -- The 2005 St. Christopher's School Model Judiciary Team recently outperformed nearly 100 teams from across Virginia in the YMCA's annual Model Judiciary Program competition. The Model Judiciary Program provides high school students with an opportunity to gain practical knowledge of the Commonwealth of Virginia's judicial system through trial simulations in which students portray attorneys, jurors and witnesses.
After stellar performances in both the trial and appeal rounds, the St. Christopher's team was among the top 16 teams selected to argue their appeals case once again in front of the Virginia Supreme Court. St. Christopher's went on to become one of only four teams tapped to prepare Marbury vs. Madison, one of the most noted U.S. Supreme Court decisions, in honor of the 250th anniversary of former Chief Justice John Marshall's birth. Arguments were heard on Thursday, April 7, and St. Christopher's team was declared a winner, as was the team from St. Gertrude's High School.See the full content of this document
