WASHINGTON, May 4 /U.S. Newswire/ -- The United States is among the leaders in the world in providing access to school computers, but it lags behind other countries in frequency of school computer use and Internet availability at school, according to Education Week's seventh annual report on school technology which includes an in-depth look at school technology in the U.S. and in countries around the world.

The study - to be released on Thursday, May 6 - shows that while the United States leads most nations in the number of computers per student, the United States falls far behind other nations in the percentage of computers connected to the Internet, with some nations reporting twice as many Internet-connected computers as the United States. The United States also is outpaced by several countries in the percentage of 15-year-olds who use computers at school several times a week, according to the report.
