SAN DIEGO, May 3 /PRNewswire/ -- California American Water is encouraging its San Diego County customers to recognize National Drinking Water Week, May 2-8. The American Water Works Association established National Drinking Water Week more than 30 years ago to raise public awareness of the need for safe and reliable drinking water supplies for public health, fire protection, economic development, and the overall quality of life we enjoy as communities and individuals.

This year, California American Water is focused on promoting water conservation and water-wise practices during National Drinking Water Week. "Conserving this precious resource remains a top goal," said, Chris Mattis, California American Water's operations manager. "Despite a year of good rain and snowfall, many of our state reservoirs remain low. In addition, endangered species concerns have reduced the amount of water that can be imported through the State Water Project."
