HOUSTON, May 26 /U.S. Newswire/ -- The Federal Emergency Management Agency revealed Thursday it has granted extensions to 11 jurisdictions in Texas that had been facing a May 31 cutoff of the Section 403 program in which state and local governments directly paid rents to landlords on behalf of those displaced by Hurricane Katrina.

The extensions came to light in the government's response to a class action law suit filed on May 19 by 12 individuals as representatives in a class action suit seeking a temporary restraining order (TRO) against the cutoff. A hearing for the TRO was set for May 25 at 1:30 p.m. (Central) in federal district court in Houston.
