WASHINGTON, Nov. 18 /U.S. Newswire/ -- The 109th Congress Republican Freshman Class has elected Congressman-elect Bobby Jindal (LA-1) as its Class President. Bobby Jindal, 33, won an overwhelming victory in Louisiana to become the second Indian- American to serve in the House of Representatives.

Besides this new leadership post Congressman Jindal, also has the distinction of becoming only the 2nd Indian American elected to Congress. Jindal, a Rhodes scholar, served in the current Bush Administration as the assistant secretary at the Department of Health and Human Services. Speaker Dennis Hastert (R-IL) commented:
