Hawken Middle School Student to Host Conference for Kalahari Peoples Fund

Summary

LYNDHURST, Ohio, Feb. 11 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Hawken Middle School student Aaron Kohn will host a conference to benefit Kalahari Peoples Fund on Saturday, April 16, from 1 until 4 p.m. at Hawken School, 5000 Clubside Road, Lyndhurst, Ohio. According to representatives at Kalahari Peoples Fund, Aaron's event is the first of its kind in the area.

At Hawken School, the theme of the eighth-grade curriculum is "Making a Difference in the Global Community." Aaron, a current eighth-grade student, became interested in helping the San Bushmen after studying Africa in World Cultures and English. "The San Bushmen are the oldest human culture that exists today, and the first inhabitants of Africa," explains Aaron. "They are being denied their rights in the country of Botswana. They are starving, and being dispossessed of land. Sadly, they are forced into difficult living conditions far from their native homes in the Kalahari Desert. They are dying off. Through the conference, I want to raise awareness and funds for the Bushmen through Kalahari Peoples Fund."
