Hurricane Irene to Reach New Jersey Shore Late Saturday: Be Prepared

Summary

BERGEN, N.J., Aug. 26, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Predictions indicate that Hurricane Irene will reach the New Jersey shoreline late Saturday night. High winds and over ten inches of rainfall are expected. Restoration 1 New Jersey, a New Jersey fire and water restoration company, is warning residents to be prepared for the worst. Restoration 1 New Jersey will have extra crews standing by this weekend to assist residents with emergency building and roof damage, sump pump failure, basement flooding and water extractions.

Home and business owners are strongly urged to take proper precautions to protect against flooding and water damage. Installation of temporary downspout extensions on rain gutters to direct water flow away from building foundations and low-lying areas is strongly recommended. To protect low-lying areas from water intrusion, sandbags should be employed at all entryways and garages. It is further recommended that those who do not own an emergency power source borrow, rent or buy emergency backup generators to keep sump pumps running in the event of power outages. Restoration 1 is offering emergency home and business board up and roof tarping along with emergency water extraction to all affected New York and New Jersey residents.
