WASHINGTON, May 10 /U.S. Newswire/ -b Four years ago this week, President George W. Bush began showing his contempt for the advice and consent process when he named his first 11 nominees to lifetime positions on the federal bench b a majority of whom were out of the mainstream and had a record of failing to protect the rights of ordinary Americans, according to Alliance for Justice. "Four years later, President Bush and the Senate leadership continue to push forward two women who have long records of trying to roll back civil rights, worker's rights, women's rights and consumer and environmental protections," said Alliance for Justice President Nan Aron.
"Justices Owen and Brown's deplorable records on women's rights make them unacceptable for lifetime appointments to the federal bench," said Marcia D. Greenberger, co-president of the National Women's Law Center. "They have repeatedly ignored the will of the people and state legislators in order to make law from the bench that follows their own conservative views."See the full content of this document
