TAMPA, Fla., June 2 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Senator John Kerry released the following statement on Iraq today:

"I'm glad that the President is working with the UN. This is important. In addition to negotiating a resolution at the United Nations Security Council, it is even more important to get other countries to commit resources and troops to our mission in Iraq. The President is going to Europe this weekend -- he will meet our allies at the G8 meeting in Georgia next week and meets with NATO later this month. It is essential that he get troop and resource commitments for our mission in Iraq to relieve the burden on our troops, to help achieve the stability to support this UN resolution and to internationalize the presence on the ground. Getting other forces on the ground will enable our troops to come home sooner."
