Pft President Ted Kirsch Resigns After 17 Years

PHILADELPHIA, June 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Ted Kirsch, president of the Philadelphia Federation of Teachers announced today that he was resigning as president after 24 years as a leader of the largest union local in Pennsylvania.

Kirsch, who turns 68 next month, was elected president in 1990 and has served on the union staff since 1970.

PFT General Vice President and Chief of Staff Jerry T. Jordan was elected unanimously by the union's Executive Board today to serve the remaining year of Kirsch's three-year term as president.
