WASHINGTON, May 9 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Today, the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation announced the re-acquisition of a small portion of their original homelands in Shabbona, Ill.

On Tuesday, April 25, 2006, the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation purchased a 128-acre farm from the Ward Family of Shabbona, Ill. The farm lies within the boundaries of lands reserved by the 1829 Treaty of Prairie du Chien for Chief Shab-eh-nay and his Band -- a Band which merged into and which is now recognized as the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation.
