Snowe Calls for Regulatory Relief for Small Business

WASHINGTON, Sept. 19 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Citing a new Small Business Administration Office of Advocacy report that finds that the total annual cost of Federal regulations is $1.1 trillion, Senator Olympia J. Snowe (R-Maine), Chair of the Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship, today renewed her call for the Senate to pass her regulatory reform legislation.

"Today's report finds that Americans spend a staggering $1.1 trillion trying to comply with Federal regulations," said Senator Snowe. "We can and we must continue our efforts to inject common sense into the regulatory arena by passing the targeted regulatory reform legislation I introduced earlier this year. My legislation will help small businesses know how to comply with the complex regulations and ensure that Federal agencies properly consider the cost burden of regulations on small businesses."
