WASHINGTON, May 15 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Former United States Solicitor General Theodore B. Olson has joined the Michael Skakel defense team. Mr. Olson will be filing a petition for writ of certiorari on Mr. Skakel's behalf in the United States Supreme Court.

"The record of the State of Connecticut's prosecution of Mr. Skakel and the Connecticut Supreme Court's decision affirming his conviction raise fundamental constitutional questions of fairness and due process. At stake in this case are not only Mr. Skakel's constitutional rights but also the integrity of constitutional protections upon which all of us in a free society rely. I am confident that our petition will present the United States Supreme Court with compelling reasons to hear Mr. Skakel's case and overturn his conviction," said Olson.
