SOMERVILLE, N.J., May 16 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Bicycle racers from as far away as California, Canada and Europe are expected to compete in the Memorial Day running of America's oldest bicycle race, the 62nd annual Tour of Somerville.

The May 30 event is a series of five races for licensed amateurs and professionals. The first race will start at 11:30 am and the featured 50-mile Kugler-Anderson Memorial will begin at 2:30 p.m. before a crowd of 20,000. In that event, more than 200 professional and elite category cyclists will negotiate 43 laps of the 1.14 mile downtown circuit at speeds of up to 40 mph. Last year's winner, Victor Repinski of Leicester, MA is expected to defend his title.
