WASHINGTON, Jan. 30 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Voices for America's Children, a national, nonpartisan child advocacy group, today urged the U.S. House of Representatives to follow Representative Rob Simmons' (R-Conn.) commitment to vote "NO" on February 1 to budget cuts which, if passed, will devastate generations of America's children and their families.

"We commend Rep. Simmons for voting against the budget bill and hope that others in the House are also able to recognize its' flaws and the long-term repercussions if passed as-is," said Tamara Lucas Copeland, president of Voices for America's Children. "There is no doubt that these new regulations would push working families into deeper poverty, causing parents transitioning from welfare to work to increase their hours, leaving their children without child care, and ultimately forcing states to absorb the financial burden."
