Summary

TEL AVIV, Israel - Marking a major milestone in the construction of the Yitzhak Rabin Center, one of the two "wings" -- the large, biomorphic shell roofs that evoke the shape of a dove's wings -- was installed earlier this week on top of the building. The wings enclose the Lea Rabin Hall and the library/archives, two major sections of the Complex. "The wings symbolize an important transition in the life of my father," said Dalia Rabin, Yitzhak Rabin's daughter and chair of the Center. "During his lifetime he went from being Israel's defender to its peacemaker. Moshe Safdie, the architect of the building, captures my father's spirit and the important work of our Center with these rooftop structures."

The Center will be officially dedicated this November to mark the 10th anniversary of Yitzhak Rabin's assassination. Expanding on the concept of the American presidential library, The Center fuses commemorative, historical, education and public endeavors in one facility. Against this backdrop, the life and legacy of Yitzhak Rabin -- soldier, statesman, social advocate and visionary -- unfolds.
