WASHINGTON, May 4 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Zeyno Baran, a leading expert on the geopolitics of energy, Central Asia, the Caucasus, and Islamist ideology, has joined Hudson Institute as a senior fellow and director of Hudson's new Center for Eurasian Policy. Prior to joining Hudson, Baran was director of the International Security and Energy Programs at The Nixon Center; she previously served as director of the Caucasus Project at the Center for Strategic and International Studies. A frequent guest on radio and television, Baran is the author of numerous op-eds and articles that have appeared in such publications as The Washington Post and Foreign Affairs. She has testified before Congress on issues ranging from U.S.-Turkish relations to political developments in the South Caucasus to the radicalization and integration of Muslims in Europe.

Hudson Institute's newly created Center for Eurasian Policy will analyze ongoing developments in Eurasia, the critical region that runs from Turkey to the Ukraine to Central Asia. Among its projects, the Center will be host an ongoing dialogue series between Turkish and American policymakers to establish a framework for renewing the U.S.-Turkish partnership. In addition, the Center will draft policy papers and hold workshops to promote transatlantic cooperation on energy security. Baran is working closely with the U.S. Department of State and the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs to organize a high-level conference, to be held in Amsterdam in May, entitled "A Transatlantic Partnership on Energy Security."
